Good Life Befrienders

The Caregiver Guide

The Good Life Befrienders (GLBF) Programme is open to any youths with special needs, aged 18 and above. Currently, the programme is offered free-of-charge.

We aim to bridge these youths with opportunities to participate in the community and develop meaningful relationships with others. This allows them to stay engaged and connected after they leave school.

To join the GLBF Programme:
01Your child should be diagnosed by a registered medical practitioner in Singapore to have Autism Spectrum Disorder, or an intellectual and/or physical disability.
02Your child is open to social interaction and will benefit from meeting new befrienders.
03You are able to commit to supporting your child to attend 10 befriending sessions over  a year, including arranging sessions and if necessary, guide befrienders on how to communicate with your child.
04The recommended age for this programme is 17 years and above.

How It Works

STEP 1

Indicate your interest to sign up your child for the GLBF programme here.

If your child is currently in Rainbow Centre, you may reach out to their respective caseworker.

STEP 2

A Rainbow Centre caseworker will
be in touch to share more about the
befriending process and ensure that the
programme is a right fit for your child.

STEP 3

If accepted, your child will be
paired up with two befrienders to
spend time together and build a meaningful friendship!

STEP 4

A Rainbow Centre caseworker will provide guidance for the first to third befriending sessions.

Caregivers are expected to be present for the first session to get to know your child’s befrienders.
